On an unknown date prior to March 23rd 2021, an anonymous Instagram artist created an image macro using the photo of the dog, captioned using the Whisper app, "not too fond of gay people" (shown below, left). The image was reposed by Instagram user dachshund_igzas in November 2021, gaining over 4,400 likes in a year. On June 12th, 2019, Instagram user whitney_chewston posted a photo of their dog, a white Dachschund, sitting next to a glass of red wine, gaining over 22,300 likes in three years (shown below). In 2022, the meme inspired photoshops of additional Whitney Chewston photos adding similarly ironic homophobic captions, as well as captions suggesting the dog learned from its homophobic ways and is now tolerant of the LGBTQ+ community. The image was posted to Instagram in June 2019 and first appeared as a meme on Instagram in March 2021, gaining viral spread over the course of the year and inspiring users to place new quotes over the photo of the dog.
